Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The purpose of the Human Resources Department is to support the institutional mission of the university by providing comprehensive and timely HR services with respect to recruitment and selection, benefits administration, classification and position management, employee relations, staff training and development, salary administration and compensation for all employees subject to the State Personnel Act and those exempt from the State Personnel Act. In addition, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources serves as the University EEO/Affirmative Action Officer, with full responsibility for programs of equal employment opportunity through affirmative action.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The position incumbent provides administrative and technical support to the Office of Human Resources and serves as primary administrative assistant to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and the Assistant Director of Human Resources. As policies, programs and technology change, the position must be able to adjust work skills and learn new policies, procedures and technologies to perform associated job responsibilities through multiple HRIS Systems to include Banner HR, People Admin, etc. Incumbent coordinates various projects and manages the Human Resources State and Title III budgets. Researches and identifies resources for implementation of special projects and services. The incumbent will perform a wide variety of administrative and office management duties. Duties require considerable tact and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential matters. Work requires independence and self-initiative in activities. The selected incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field. 
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a business setting as Administrative Support. 
  • Prior experience working in a higher education setting. 
  • Prior budgeting and office management experience.
