The Department of Communication has an outstanding opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to join their team.

The Department of Communication is housed in the Social Sciences Division of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Washington and has 29 full-time faculty and 16 staff members serving on average 800 undergraduate majors, 200 graduate students, as well as non-majors enrolled in courses. The Department of Communication emphasizes community, diversity, leadership, learning, and global awareness among both our students as well as our staff.  Leadership within the Department is expressed in diverse ways reflecting the variety of styles and cultures that are represented by our faculty and staff. We seek a full-time, early to mid-career professional staff manager to support and elevate our Human Resources Department.

The Human Resources (HR) Manager is the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all aspects relating to Human Resources in the Department of Communication. The HR Manager is responsible for ensuring that hiring practices and departmental operations are AHR and HR policy-compliant. This position reports to the administrator and serves as the primary backup support for that role, providing guidance for hiring managers and committees. The HR Manager will work directly with the Department Chair and Communication Leadership program director and will serve other departmental subunits such as the Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity, and the Speech and Debate Center. This is a 100% FTE Professional Staff Grade 7 position that bears the opportunity and responsibility for enhanced training and growth opportunities for the right individual.
