Purpose:
Reporting directly to the HR Director, as the Human Resources Manager (HRM) you will be an advisor for a portfolio of staff units (~200 staff) collaborating with unit and school leadership to provide guidance, interpretation and consultation on practices and policies throughout the employee lifecycle, from hiring staff to offboarding staff. You will manage the onboarding program for staff and independently design, implement and administer HR programs aligned with the Ross HR Strategic Plan and Ross Commitment to Action. You will ensure prompt, efficient and professional responses to employee relations issues and draw upon your experience to provide technical guidance to other HR staff members. You may supervise an HR Assistant.

Responsibilities*
  • You will partner with hiring managers on job description development and other recruiting activities.
  • Partner with unit leaders to address workforce gaps and structural needs.
  • Consult with employees regarding growth opportunities.
  • You will work directly with Work Connections on staff medical leaves of absence and work accommodations.
  • You will design and help implement development plans, training plans, corrective actions.
  • Coach managers, supervisors and employees on HR guidelines.
  • Conduct internal investigations.
  • Conduct exit interviews and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify key performance indicators to help unit leaders achieve their business objectives and priorities.
  • Oversee staff onboarding programs for all new hires.
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding sessions.
  • Manage the Ross Ambassador program.
  • Assess the effectiveness of onboarding programs and implement program improvements.
  • Serve on the Staff DEI Committee.
  • Understand the University health, life and disability, retirement and voluntary benefit programs and other legal requirements.
  • Recommend new approaches to improve the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Update the human resource information system.
  • Compile and optimize data reports via database programs.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and completion of projects within the HR department.
  • Provide support to other schools, colleges and units.

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of human resources management experience
  • 2+ years experience in employee onboarding or training
  • Experience working directly with individuals in senior leadership positions
  • Working knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws

Additional Information

The general salary range for this position is $81,000 - $90,000. Candidates can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
