Summary of Duties

Under the leadership of the Administration & Planning (A&P) Human Resources Directors, develops high quality business partnerships and practices. Serves as the HR Generalist responsible for the coordination, implementation and administration of HR functions in assigned A&P units. Provides human resource management consultation and services to assigned administrators, managers, and staff on HR issues, programs, policies, procedures, practices, regulations and contracts. Fosters positive working relationships, provides expert advice and services and partners with university human resources business partners. Assists the HR Directors with the development and implementation of strategies, programs and practices consistent with the overall strategic direction, mission, vision and values of the division and university. Collaboratively, works with assigned A&P leadership, managers, and staff to identify skill deficits and determine training and development needs. Provides confidential and objective consultation to clients and properly instructs and handles information in accordance with University policy and state and federal law.

May be responsible for development and oversight of a specialized human resources program including content expert consultation services available to a broad range of internal constituency (administrators, managers, leadership and staff). Contributes to the development and implementation of strategies, programs and practices for creating a workplace of choice, enhancing employee engagement and promoting a culture of civility, respect and accountability. Serves on committees and project teams as requested.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; five years of progressively responsible human resources experience; knowledge and understanding of all applicable federal/state employment laws; strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; experience following administrative and procedural processes; experience collecting data and making decisions on complex and sensitive/confidential issues.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Ohio State University human resources policies/procedures; experience using PeopleSoft or similar human resources information systems; experience working with a bargaining unit, civil service population and/or in a university setting; expertise in employee and labor relations, employment law or performance management; PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification.

Target Salary $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually
