Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist II, under general supervision of Engineering Human Resources, provides advanced support in initiating and processing HR related requests via Workday and associated systems. The HR Generalist II will serve as the HR Contact and Recruiting Coordinator for Engineering departments in processing HR related functions in Workday.  Advises faculty, staff and business services team members on processes, procedures, and services as well as serving as a subject matter expert and technical resource. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the key point of contact for Engineering departments in initiating and processing HR related requests via Workday and associated systems. Provides guidance and training related to HR functions and assures that issues are handled confidentially and efficiently.

  • Provides excellent customer service while assisting customers with HR related processes, procedures and services.

  • Executes the role of HR Contact in Workday which includes creating positions, job requisitions, hire, change job, compensation changes, etc.

  • As a recruiting coordinator, reviews and assists hiring managers with job postings, offers of employment, creating offer letters, and ensuring selected candidates meet minimum qualifications for positions.

  • Assists with researching and resolving issues and special projects related to personnel and other HR services.

  • Supports the bi-monthly HR/payroll new employee orientation with onboarding hiring tasks and continually monitors the hiring process of new employees to ensure completion in timely manner.

  • Continuously engaging with department contacts and making regular visits to ensure understanding of processes and give support for one-on-one training and questions.

  • Assist I-9 partner with creating, reviewing, approving and retaining of Form I-9’s in Guardian and Workday systems.

  • Assist with day-to-day tracking of new employee onboarding process through Laserfiche.

  • Manage logistics for new employee onboarding sessions including invitations for staff attendees, and creating the onboarding staffing schedule.

  • May supervise student intern during internship semester by completing necessary paperwork and providing guidance in different aspects of HR.

  • Serves as backup for processing prospective hire forms as needed; this includes running background checks and degree verifications. Provides guidance and assists to student workers with processing prospective hire forms. Answers questions with regards to Pre-Onboarding and the I2H process.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • One year of related experience.
