Work Hours:  Mon–Fri. Ability to work some evenings and Saturdays; Secondary holidays may be a scheduled workday.

Reports To: Manager, HR Operations

Location: Orchard Park, NY

This is NOT a remote position.

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to the College, assisting in various HR functions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and company policies. The HR Generalist will support the day-to-day operational functions of the department. This role will be the primary point of contact for leave of absence activities and support the administration of human resource policies, procedures, and programs. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leave Administration: Oversee leave of absence activities, including FMLA, PFL, disability, and all other leave programs. Provide guidance and support to campus leave administrators regarding leave procedures and processes. Lead the interactive process for ADA cases. Ensure compliance with deadlines associated with these activities.
  • HR Compliance: Prepare and update human resource policies and procedures. Monitor changes in human resource related federal, state, and local laws, advise supervisor on any upcoming changes and make recommendations based on research and legal review if applicable. Maintain and update associate guide and other HR documents, including job descriptions. Conduct background checks in accordance with policy.
  • Employee Relations: Contribute to overall morale and associate engagement. Promote a positive workplace culture through effective communication and conflict resolution. Assist in conducting investigations and separations when necessary.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Ensure maintenance of HR records and assist in the generation of reports on key HR metrics.
  • Recruiting: Support recruiting team by posting job vacancies, sourcing candidates, and managing requisitions as needed.
  • HR Support: Participate in the implementation of the College’s human resource strategy in a way that is consistent with best practice and the delivery of the College’s mission and objectives. Contribute to HR initiatives through research and special projects. Participate on work teams to develop and implement policies and procedures. Act as the back-up for the HR Manager.
  • HR Administration: Support the administration of various HR processes including, but not limited to, performance management, exit/stay interview process, operational budget support.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree:  Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
    • Experience: 3-5 years in a Human Resources department.
    • Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel and other Office 365 products.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Degree:  Master’s degree.  HRCI or SHRM certification.
    • Computer Skills: HRIS background in UKG or other HRIS software.

    Salary Range: 

    $60,000 to $65,000 per year.

The selected candidate’s actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At Bryant & Stratton College, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
