POSITION SUMMARY 


The Chicago School is in the process of building the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine: IllinoisCOM (applicant status – seeking accreditation) and is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Business Partner to join our collaborative and forward-thinking team to support the college. As a trusted advisor and University resource, you'll have the exciting opportunity to provide invaluable insights into people and organizational dynamics. You will guide the college through HR projects aimed at enhancing operational excellence, helping employees leverage and optimize their skills and abilities, leading recruitment efforts to attract top talent, and fostering a positive work environment through employee relations. As a champion of quality control and a point of escalation, you will ensure our HR functions meet the unique needs of our diverse community. This is a remote position, with monthly travel to our Chicago, IL campus. Thus, physical proximity to our Chicago campus is preferred.  


 


PRINCIPLE DUTIES 


  • Strategic Advising: Partner with leaders, serving as a trusted adviser on people, organizational, or capability needs and issues. 

  • Talent Development and Performance Management: Coach and advise leaders on talent development and performance management. 

  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance for the resolution of employee relation matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary action. 

  • Recruitment and Selection: Provide full-cycle recruitment support for all open vacancies, including posting jobs, developing selection processes, pre-screening resumes, scheduling interviews, extending offers, and onboarding. 

  • Training and Development: Support the design and delivery of training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. 

  • Quality Control and Process Improvement: Support business operations in designing and implementing HR quality control and process improvement initiatives. Serve as a University resource and point of escalation for all basic HR functions, including compensation, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining confidential HRIS employment data. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various university stakeholders to understand their HR needs and provide effective solutions. 


  • Policy and Procedure Management: Support the Director of HR in the development, interpretation, and enforcement of policies and procedures.  

  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Support the Director of HR with ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 


 


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 


  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate education required  

  • At least two years of HR Generalist or higher experience (higher education and/or the medical field a plus)  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Illinois wage and hour laws  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal employment laws  


 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 


  • Ability to relate to and professionally communicate with all levels of employees through excellent listening and communication skills that engender trust and support  

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite  

  • Previous experience with HRIS databases and Applicant Tracking Systems (Workday preferred)  


 


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This opportunity is budgeted at $70,000 - $90,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
