Position Description:

The HR Business Partner III at the Kent School is responsible for coordination and management of talent acquisition, payroll, and position management functions for the unit. This position merges the interaction between payroll and position attributes to coordinate seamless processes for our faculty and staff and is responsible for adjunct faculty personnel management for the unit to fill over 70 slots per semester for Kent School course programming. This position is the manager for all talent recruitment for the Kent School.

1. Manage all human resources activities for the unit, including position development, recruitment, onboarding, and corresponding activities for talent acquisition of faculty, staff, student employees, etc. Prepare or assist with preparation of job descriptions, screen applicants, facilitate and monitor employee searches to assure compliance with unit and university guidelines.  Advise directors, principal investigators, faculty, and staff on personnel/employee relations issues, including performance evaluations, applicant interviews, hiring procedures, reduction-in-force procedures, etc.  Coordinate annual performance evaluation submissions for the unit.

2. Coordinate faculty affairs activities for the Dean's Office, including overall responsibility for confidential faculty personnel actions with the Office of Faculty Affairs within the Office of the Provost.  Actions include but are not limited to document preparation and submission of required information via university platforms, such as interfolio.  Coordination with the Program Manager II within the Dean's Office of faculty action and review activities under the Dean.

3. Responsible for management of recruitment, onboarding, and contracting of adjunct faculty, including creation and dissemination of teaching contracts based on course assignments.  Address all inquiries concerning adjunct faculty issues related to contracts, payroll, and benefits, as appropriate.  Manage credential documentation of all adjunct personnel and maintain all required compliance documentation.  Management of lump sum teaching budget for adjunct teaching activities to ensure budget compliance.

4. Serve as the position management coordinator for the unit.  Responsibilities include salary grid analysis and development to outline annual multi-source funding from grant budgets. Initiation, entry, and management of all faculty and non-grant staff and student positions via Workday HR. Process changes to salary distributions during the year and process expense transfers and JV's, as appropriate.  

5.  Coordinate hiring and payroll payment process for all part-time and full-time unit employees, temporary employees, and students to include additional and supplemental pay.  Includes decision-making skills to identify appropriate payroll process via published guidelines.  Troubleshoot payroll problems and serve as unit liaison with the Payroll Office.

6. Initiation and entry of current and retroactive payroll actions in BA3/4.

7. Review of bi-weekly payroll hours and resolve all payroll issues.  Maintain annual leave balances for Kent School staff, temporary employees, and students.  Process new hire or continuation paperwork for federal work study students.  Monitor payment of award on biweekly basis to ensure no overpayment of total award; maintain record of earnings and submission to Financial Aid Office.

8.  Perform fund reconciliation using BA3/4 for Dean's Office, as assigned.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$87,300.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$58,200.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
