Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Under general supervision, performs specialized administrative duties in support of FM Human Resources functions to include areas such as employment, classification, compensation, benefits, payroll, equal employment opportunity/affirmative action, employee relations, training and human resources information systems. If fluent in English and Spanish, may coordinate and provide support services to the organization’s Spanish-speaking population.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
Three years clerical experience, one year of which must have involved the application of human resources policies and procedures.:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of general human resources practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business english, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, systems and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret human resources policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
  • Ability to organize and execute multiple assignments under specific time constraints with general instructions.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, in both business and conversational Spanish, is strongly desired.
  • Experience working in a Human Resources office is strongly desired.
  • Experience in newsletter preparation, social media video production & posting, public speaking, acting, payroll processing, research and spot-checking, event planning, recruiting, investigations & investigation reporting, service desk, benefit eligibility determination and assistance, journal or news editorial staff, problem-solving, mediation, counseling, policy interpretation and policy application, are all helpful.
  • Degree beyond the H.S. diploma (esp. English, Communications, HR or Social Sciences) preferred.
  • SHRM, HRCI or other HR certification preferred.
Additional Certifications:
Must have a driver’s license as duties require the incumbent to be able to deliver small packages, parcels, and other items to locations throughout the campus.
If driving a State vehicle, must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points.

  • This is a Contingent II contractual full-time position.

Physical Demands
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Work location and assignment, from any of FM HR primary or satellite offices, may vary based on staffing needs. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
May be seated for long periods with repetitive typing and viewing of a computer screen. Role requires consistent high frustration threshold for repetitive and/or analytical tasks.
This position is a non-essential position and does not work when the university is closed. Occasional weekend or off-hour work within or outside of an office environment, may be requested or necessary to meet a specific deadline or in support of unit or university events. Overtime work must be approved/assigned. This position is expected to work in person, on site, Monday-Friday during core business hours, subject to university policy.
