Job Description:

The personnel associate will perform a wide range of generalist duties to include but not be limited to recruitment, personnel transactions, Affirmative Action, personnel training, employee relations and any other generalist duties as needed.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of a broad array of Human Resources matters. This position has the authority to assist in determining, creating, affecting policy for SUNY Polytechnic Institute.  

  • Complete day to day personnel matters including but not limited to working with employees on personnel transactions, affirmative action planning and coordination, cycle of recruitment, onboarding, and develop new hire materials.
  •  Facilitate kick-off meetings within campus community; Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation.
  • Perform outreach in the community; attend recruitment events and job fairs.
  • Assist with Student Hiring Process; Civil Service hiring and all related transactions; Immigration process.
  • Provide leadership, oversight and direction to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies.  Design and implement operating strategies, plans and procedures to assure smooth functioning of SUNY Poly. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication. Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements. 
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND a minimum of two to three years of professionally responsible experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a unionized environment with knowledge of NYS Collective Bargaining Agreements.
