Human Resources Assistant II - UT Physicians Focus

Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston's Human Resources team is looking for a Human Resources Assistant who will mainly do clerical and administrative work with the team that services our UT Physicians clinics. This employee provides administrative/technical support for one or more human resources functions. Human Resources experience is preferred, along with some mastery of Excel and some expertise in PowerPoint. The individual should be comfortable providing guidance to leaders and employees alike, both verbally and in writing. You should be service-minded, and able to supply great customer service. 

Specific duties may include: 

  • Family Medical Leave Coordination 
  • General Mailbox monitoring for this department of HR 
  • Answer UTP Mainline and Voicemails
  • Administrative Duties for NEO
    • Grid Prep
    • Emails
  • Back-up New Employee Orientation Facilitator
  • Monthly standard reports collecting data from other team members and compiling. 
  • Generate a Headcount Report
  • Monthly reports- Marketing and UTP Execs as needed

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Provides daily technical support to clients and/or departmental staff members in assigned areas of human resources.
2. Researches, compiles, and analyzes data for various projects and reports. May make recommendations to supervisor on Human Resources issues. 
3. Processes and/or explains forms to employees and applicants.
4. Provides support to hiring managers, candidates, organizational staff, and HR colleagues in one or more of the following areas:  HR information systems (applicant tracking system, HRMS); candidate recruitment/screening; employment processing; compensation administration; training administration; employee relations; and/or equal opportunity.
5. Researches and answers routine to moderately complex questions or issues in compliance with UT-Houston’s policies.
6. Prepares procedures for assigned tasks.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education:

High School diploma or its equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

At least one year of office or administrative experience is required. 

Prefer candidates with some exposure to human resources functions and those who have Excel skills. 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
