Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The OUC represents the University, which entails providing legal advice and counsel to the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, the administration, faculty, and staff on legal matters involving or affecting the institution. We advise the University administration on a broad range of initiatives, issues, and policy matters, and serve as a liaison between the University and its related and affiliated entities on legal and policy issues. We also assist with program implementation and provide legal and policy training for internal University audiences and educational programs for legal audiences and general audiences outside the institution on matters affecting the University and higher education in general. We engage in crisis and opportunity management and preventative counseling, including the identification of high-risk activities and enterprises conducted by the University and the articulation of methodologies or strategies for coping with the risks. We advocate for the University in state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, and regulatory settings. Our Office is responsible for selecting and supervising any outside counsel engaged by the institution.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. 
Onsite parking provided at this work location at no cost to the employee.
The Human Resources and Business Coordinator (HRBC) oversees and coordinates human resources for the Office of University Counsel (OUC). This position will provide frontline guidance and expert advice to the managers and employees in the full range of HR functions. The HRBC will interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures. The responsibilities include advising on recruitment activities, managing onboarding and offboarding, collaborating on position descriptions and salary adjustment proposals, and advising on the performance management process. 
The HRBC works under the supervision of the Director of Legal Operations and Strategy and devotes a portion of their time to the administration of OUC policies, programs, and business functions that include providing administrative support, scheduling, document production, and filing as needed for attorneys and paralegals. The HRBC will also be available to support the Executive Assistants as needed in any administrative tasks and/or organizational projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Ability to work with highly confidential information. Understanding of services, policies and procedures related to the area(s) of specialization. Working knowledge of office procedures and practices. Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information. Ability to apply knowledge of data collections, storage, organization, manipulation and/or analysis of data. Ability to multi-task in a busy environment and prioritize competing tasks. Familiarity with software and systems, office equipment and other technology to meet organizational needs. Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities, using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions. Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups, including the ability to speak/write clearly and effectively, adjust language or terminology to match the situation, and use of correct grammar. Ability to interpret guidelines in order to answer inquiries and advise others regarding processes. Must be team oriented with a willingness to learn new things. 
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and its components; Working knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft, Concur, BuyCarolina, Docusign, Pcard and SharePoint.
