The Human Resources Administrator I, provides a broad range of employee relations services and performs high level compliance activities including but not limited to; employee consulting, conflict resolution, performance improvement, policy interpretation, and audit response.


  • Serves in an outreach role on employee relations, organizational consulting, grievance and employee complaints.
  • Provides advice, counsel, interpretation, and guidance to administration, supervisors, managers, and other employees on university policies and practices, including employment law matters. This includes conflict resolution, complaints, appeals, and reductions in force. Responsible for maintenance of all records related to complaint resolutions.
  • Oversight and compliance of rules, policies and procedures relative to human resources and payroll. Interprets and gives advice on policies, rules, and SAPs, and suggests possible courses of action.
  • Serves on various compliance councils and committees.   
  • Maintains compliant record retention of human resources and payroll documents.
  • Serves as the primary on audit responses. 
  • Engages and collaborates with strategic planning efforts.
  • Develop and maintain HR/Payroll calendar of deadlines and actions. 
  • Oversees compliance of employee personnel files for the organization and implements process improvements.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities.
  • Compliance oversight of External Employment and Alternate Work Arrangement requests.
  • Supervises the Data Analyst position by coordinating and prioritizing Laserfiche projects with surveys and reporting.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Five years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complex problems, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to utilize software systems and other electronic tools to execute projects.
  • Excellent time management and customer service skills.
