Purpose

The Human Resources Coordinator will support the Charles A. Dana Center through human resource operation and administration utilizing best practices, professional acumen, and excellent customer service.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee all departmental HR processes. Support the full employment lifecycle of staff, students, service providers, and affiliated workers, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and performance management. 

  • Act as the department’s liaison to the College of Natural Sciences Dean’s Office and other University offices. Maintain knowledge of university policies and procedures related to human resources and ensure compliance. Escalate complex human resources matters to CNS HR office. 

  • Assist in developing processes and activities which enhance the Dana Center’s ability to attract and retain a workforce which fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging. 

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, staff training, and collaborative process improvement. Update and maintain complete and accurate records. Produce reports as requested.  

  • Participate in processes and activities designed to establish an organizational culture that supports learning, collaboration, and collective responsibility in order to enhance professional relationships, job satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Other related Functions as assigned


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience in human resources, business, or related field.  Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.  Ability to manage a high volume of work assignments under dynamic circumstances while maintaining accuracy.  Strong creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and recommend practical solutions.  Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond appropriately to sensitive issues.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to support a wide range of diverse constituencies.  Previous success working independently and, in a team-oriented, customer service environment. Comfortable with and skilled at communicating via Zoom and/or Teams.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a higher education setting.  Human Resource certification or demonstrated progress in other professional development courses related to Human Resources.  Demonstrated knowledge with commonly used business applications and employment policies at the University of Texas at Austin.  Experience leading meetings or trainings for audiences of varying size.   Ability to anticipate the needs of the department proactively and develop processes to improve efficiency.  Experience with strategic planning for recruitment and hiring


Salary Range

$50,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

Involves normal office equipment such as laptop, printer, copiers, etc. Most have the ability to move about the office.
