Work Schedule
8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Monday – Friday with ‘on-call’ designation. Some evening and weekend work as required.
Mandatory Employee
This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Inventory Control Officer in managing the supplies and ordering for housekeeping and maintenance units in Housing and Residence Life. The position is responsible for assisting in the ordering and receiving of goods, processing of paperwork, maintaining adequate supply levels for daily operations, and management of all storage rooms including inventory audits. This position also assists with the maintenance of all Building Environmental Services (BES) storage rooms, the movement and delivery of BES supplies to buildings, and the moving of BES staff and equipment for building turns.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or successful completion of its equivalency and one year of relevant experience in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties
This position works within Housing and Residence Life and will assist the Housekeeping.
  • Coordinator in the overall management of all HRL BES storage rooms.
  • The movement and delivery of BES supplies to buildings.
  • The moving of BES staff and equipment for building turns.
  • This staff member will be required to drive a university/department vehicle, including pickup trucks and box trucks, to deliver supplies and equipment around campus.
Other Work Responsibilities
This position maintains the existing supplies for Custodial operations in all HRL buildings. The staff member routinely audits, delivers, and stocks supply rooms for custodial operations and utilizes technology to log and manage inventory used by HRL.
The staff member also works with maintenance staff to maintain and keep in good operating condition equipment such as vacuums, buffers, etc.
Repair of small custodial equipment.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Experience working in a warehouse or parts/supply shop
  • Demonstrated ability to work around supplies and equipment
  • Ability to transport equipment and people around campus and move supplies within storage rooms and onto and off of vehicles
  • Must have basic computer skills to operate and manage the computerized inventory system.
  • Inventory experience, Shipping, and receiving, equipment repair knowledge (vacuum, scrubber, etc.)
  • Attention to detail
