| Position Summary | Responsible for providing system support and technical consulting to the Human Resources department and campus community by leading the development, testing, troubleshooting, training, implementation and maintenance of campus-wide computer-based HR information systems and analyzing the needs of campus departments by implementing and debugging computer systems & programs. Serves as primary support for HR-Benefits & Wellness. |
| Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant experience/education equivalent to four years, preferably in human resources, business, management information systems, or a related field. One year of relevant work experience that includes some combination of computer hardware and software applications, computer teaching/training, and/or coordinating technology in a complex organization. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to write documentation and training materials. Sound diagnostic skills for computer hardware and peripheral equipment. Ability to creatively apply technical skills and theoretical knowledge to the resolution of assigned projects. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude. Experience with Word and Excel. Ability to work independently and set priorities. Strong attention to detail. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Working knowledge of the SAP HR system, ESS web functionality, and PeopleAdmin. Configuration experience within SAP HR, Payroll, Personnel Administration, Organizational Management, and Benefits modules. Experience with use of web-based application programs and online ESS functionality. Project management/leadership skills. Training experience. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Serves as technical consultant for the Human Resources (HR) office and other offices dependent on the operation of the HR systems. Serves as primary support for processing transactions (into SAP) on behalf of HR-Benefits & Wellness related to employees such as: CMU Choices benefit program including health insurance, life insurance & disability, FSA & HSA plans and retirement plans. Processes enrollments, terminations, and changes to enrollments. Maintains and updates SAP and administers COBRA. Responsible for vendor interface files and report generation. Conducts research and troubleshoots current issues in the SAP HR System and ESS functionality. Corrects problems by analyzing programs or systems to determine the cause and effects of the issue, changes programs and system configuration to prevent recurrence and to eliminate the effects of the issue, and evaluates the system to determine that all corrections have been properly made with no unanticipated or undesirable effects. Analyzes present systems and procedures and provides recommendations for improvements and process automation. Serves as a project lead in system implementations, upgrades, and changes in SAP HR system and ESS functionality related to Benefits. Prepares and defines specifications for reports, interfaces, and conversions. Serves as an internal and external liaison with others on matters related to computer technology and HR systems. Prepares training materials, program procedures, and system requirements for user offices. Trains end users on their roles within the different HR systems and applications. Assists in identification and management efforts to increase operational efficiency in HR user departments through greater user of technology. Serves as a resource for oversight and development of technology and system training for the FAS division and other users of the HR systems. Generates reports requested by various departments, analyzes for accuracy. Completes other special projects within the department as assigned. |
