Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Human Resources (HR) Data Analyst is a member of the Facilities Management Human Resources Payroll team. The position collects, compiles, analyzes and reports HR data, metrics, and statistics, and applies this data to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, workforce trends and/or legal compliance. This position plays a vital role in collecting, structuring, analyzing, and reporting HR processes and data. Key competencies include data and predictive analysis, information synthesis, project management, relationship management, HR expertise, communication, HR systems, and cultural awareness.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

Experience:
  • Five years of progressively responsible HR experience, at least two of which must have included developing and reporting HR metrics, HR Reporting and HR dashboards.
  • Experience must include handling sensitive personnel issues and public presentations regarding organizational issues and initiatives.
  • Experience in four or more of the following human resources areas: recruitment, retention, training, total rewards, performance management, HR compliance, and/or internal policy interpretation.
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll, employment law, regulatory knowledge, and/or reporting compliance.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, Visio, and PowerPoint), Zoom, and Google Suite.

  • Ability to actively listen comprehend and synthesize simple through complex information, correspondence, reports, and memos.
  • Ability to see and identify patterns and/or draw connections between sources.
  • Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to effectively present information using various platforms in one-on-one and small-group situations to team and customer organizational leadership.
  • Ability to focus on analytical or repetitive tasks and/or operations for long periods with high accuracy.
  • High level of detail-orientation as well as analytical, computational and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to identify needed data sets, ask relevant questions, collect and organize data, compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret related tables or graphs.
  • Ability to identify trends, anomalies and/or problems in large data sets involving several concrete variables and to apply appropriate statistical analyses to determine significance.
  • Ability to perform complex functions in Excel, analyze outcomes, and graphically represent findings in an engaging and accessible manner.
  • Superior oral and written business communication skill including the use of computers for business correspondence, report writing, email to communicate at all organizational levels.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access database or similar data management software.
  • Ability to independently manage time and projects and to simultaneously organize/execute multiple assignments.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, ensuring attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure, to recognize sensitive or confidential matters, and to approach such issues with appropriate confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of customers.

  • Fluency in oral and written business professional Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • SHRM, HRCI or other HR certification.
Additional Certifications:
Duties may require the incumbent to attend meetings and functions at locations on or off the campus. If driving a State vehicle, must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points.

The hiring range for this position is $73,720 – $92,150.

Physical Demands
May be seated for long periods with repetitive typing and viewing of a computer screen. Requires extended periods of focus, visual and mental information processing, computation and analysis. Incumbent must be able to employ and communicate logical (Informal, Symbolic, Mathematical etc) analysis. Role must assimilate information accurately, quickly and independently. Role requires consistent high frustration threshold for repetitive and/or analytical tasks.
Must be able to take notes by hand or equipment, perform routine operations on general office equipment with accompanying weight loads. Must be consistently and reliably available, within indicated timeframes, for work tasks and meetings whether onsite or remote. Must perform well under deadlines or stress and be capable of performing a variety of tasks in a limited amount of time.
This position is designated as Essential and may work when the university is closed. Work is done in an office environment. Occasional weekend or off-hour work within or outside of an office environment, may be requested or necessary to meet a specific deadline or in support of unit or university events. This position is typically hybrid eligible, subject to university policy and/or probationary period.
