Job Overview

The College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) HR Manager to manage human resources functions for the college.  CAHS students earn degrees in fields such as Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Speech Language Pathology, Audiology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Health Information Management, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nutrition Sciences.  With 39% of the student population registered in online programs, CAHS has employees and stakeholders across the nation who actively support student learning experiences. 

 

This position will manage the day-to-day HR functions of the college.  The HR Manager will work with administrators in the college and across the University to post positions, manage recruitment efforts, monitor the selection process, and to finalize hires of selected candidates.  The HR Manager will also process hiring of a high volume of CAHS Term Adjunct Faculty and student employees.  This position is responsible for maintaining personnel files, monitoring and processing Time Off From Work (TOFW) requests, responding to inquiries related to timekeeping and paid time off, and coordinating payroll processing for hourly employees.  In collaboration with college and University administrators, this position will administer leaves of absence, coordinate employee relations functions for the college, and facilitate separations of employment.  This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.


Essential Functions
  • Act as a manager for assigned business areas. Provide supervision, coaching, direction, and act as a resource for junior HR personnel.
  • Work with hiring coordinators and HR Business Partners to identify critical organizational needs. 
  • Act as a resource for special projects and human resources programs (e.g., recruitment and employment; employee records; payroll and benefits administration; and training).
  • Act as a liaison to University and external agents. Develop policies and procedures. Contribute to negotiations.
  • Research and answer any questions pertaining to salary, benefits, personnel, and employment/personnel issues for employees and managers.
  • Plan, organize, and complete special projects, reports, and analyses. Prepare reports and administer programs to ensure compliance with University, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate employee training to promote professional development. Represent the University and serve on various committees.
  • Must maintain confidentiality with high level of integrity. Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with UC’s Records Retention Schedule.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). 
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of Human Resources experience.
