HR Generalist - Temporary

Location: Saint Paul, MINNESOTA

Temporarily manage the Talent Acquisition process including job posting, candidate screening and interviewing, and overseeing the hiring process for staff positions. Position will transition into support of a university wide compensation study and analysis in partnership with a third party.  Estimated position length is 4-6 months.



Talent Acquisition:

  • Lead full cycle recruiting for University, including job description creation, interviewing, negotiate offers, pre-employment paperwork, and providing guidance on recruitment practices.
  • Acts as liaison with Academic Affairs to support recruitment and onboarding. 
  • Present qualified candidates to hiring managers for interviews and facilitate the offer process.
  • Actively source candidates using university networks and channels.
  • Manage the Applicant Tracking System.

Compensation Study:

  • Administrative support role working with third party to submit university information for creation of compensation framework. 
  • Includes gathering job descriptions from program areas, offering edits and revisions, and secure uploading of files.
  • Will provide regular updates to OPC leadership and be point of contact with third party vendor.

General HR project work and support – may be assigned additional duties around employee onboarding, training and development, and benefits as needs arise with the department.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.



  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options.
  • Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages and salaries.
  • Understanding of specific HR concepts with emphasis on staffing processes, internal HR policies, compensation, employment law and interviewing techniques or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of working in an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) which is currently iCIMS.
  • Previous experience working with compensation tasks (job description creation/revision) preferred.


Required Experience:

  • With a bachelor’s degree, 1+ years of experience in business, human resources or a related field.
  • Without a bachelor’s degree, 3-4 years of experience in human resources business or a related field.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a Talent Acquisition or Generalist role.


Required Education:

  • Associate’s degree in human resources, business or a related field.

 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field.


  • Must be able to work in a sitting position at a computer for extended periods of time.
