We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist with a focus on Faculty Affairs to join our team. You will report to the Director of Human Resources and Executive Support and play an important part in enhancing the academic experience for our faculty members. You will collaborate with academic departments, administration, and faculty to ensure smooth operations related to faculty recruitment, onboarding, development, and other HR-related matters.

  • Manage the full-cycle faculty, lecturer, and postdoctoral employment process, including faculty searches, promotion and tenure, lecturer reviews, leave of absence, and retirement processing.
  • Help develop and implement faculty, lecturer, and postdoctoral onboarding programs, ensuring new hires have a seamless integration into the academic community.
  • Provide support for faculty and lecturer mentoring programs, including workshops, training, and career growth initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date faculty, lecturer, and postdoctoral records, including visa processing, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Address faculty, lecturer, and postdoctoral inquiries and concerns related to HR policies, benefits, and employment matters.
  • Be a contact for all faculty, lecturer, and postdoctoral appointment changes and appointment change processes; manage and process all faculty HR transactions PARs; ensure all HR data is current and accurate; manage deadlines ensuring PARs are completed.
  • Assist with annual update of UMSI Faculty/Staff Handbook.
  • Collaborate with the Dean's office staff on administrative tasks related to faculty appointments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent HR experience working in Higher Education.
  • Three+ years of directly applicable HR experience in higher education; including knowledge of faculty appointments.
  • Demonstrated the ability to productively complete activities and tasks and delegate them when needed.
    Demonstrated skills in customer-focused problem-solving.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Google applications, PeopleSoft, Business Objects, and Tableau.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and partners.
