The Office of Human Resources seeks an experienced HR Consultant to partner with leaders at The Ohio State University at Newark (“Newark Campus”) to support strategic initiatives, ensure delivery of excellent customer service and champion continuous process improvement in support of the faculty, staff and student employees on the Newark Campus.  The Ohio State University at Newark and the Central Ohio Technical College have forged an outstanding array of educational opportunities for the central Ohio region through a very close partnership, therefore, this position will also work to ensure alignment with the HR team at COTC. This position is part of the HR team assigned to supporting all of OSU’s Regional Campuses (i.e., Newark, Lima, Mansfield, Marion) and is collaborative, solution-oriented and fast-working. Success comes to the team through strong relationship-building skills, excellent communication, and understanding of the business and mission of the campus. This position will be located in Newark, Ohio and will report to the Human Resources Business Partner.

The Human Resources Consultant (HR Business Partner 3) serves as a consultative role in the Strategic Initiatives function of Human Resources in either an academic unit, business unit or medical center setting.

The Human Resources Consultant provides consultative support to managers & collaborates with stakeholders to align the HR Operations strategy with that of the unit of support in the areas of employee support/experience, manager support, reporting and analytics, talent acquisition, talent management, compliance, workforce planning, classification and compensation, employee relations and performance management, organizational design and effectiveness *onboarding/offboarding *employment lifecycle.

The HR Consultant will support leaders, managers, supervisors and employees on the Newark Campus by delivering HR support that enhances organizational performance and focuses on moments that matter. Through ongoing and regular collaboration, the HR Consultant will execute HR services that are aligned with the Centers of Expertise (CoE) and HR Services. Working closely with the HR Business Partner, the HR Consultant will work to execute HR services aligned to the CoEs and HR Services operation.


This individual contributor is responsible for providing strategic consultation across the Newark Campus to tie business objectives to employee and manager needs on matters including performance, talent planning/workforce planning, succession planning, learning and professional development, compensation, benefits, and related areas of human resources. The HR Consultant guides leaders to effectively utilize core HR CoE resources such as total rewards and talent management programs. The role will also support leaders, managers, and supervisors with HR-related activities throughout the employee lifecycle such as recruiting, onboarding, pay and job changes, performance management, life events, and terminations.
 

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience.

Desired Education/Experience

2-4 years of relevant experience. *Experience in a higher education setting  * Experience in cyclical employee onboarding/offboarding

Master’s degree in relevant field;

PHR or SHRM-CP certification

Experience using Workday
