The Human Resources Associate (HR Business Partner 2) works as a key member of the HR team supporting the units within the Office of Academic Affairs with general human resources (HR) duties as part of a customer service-oriented HR team. In partnership with the HR Business Partners and/or HR Consultants this position will primarily focus on HR transactions and operational support to the units including, but not limited to Workday business processes, ServiceNow tickets, employee support, onboarding/offboarding checklists, reporting and basic analytics, talent acquisition process.

Key Responsibilities

The Human Resources Associate (HR Business Partner 2) Provides HR services in partnership with the Centers of Expertise (CoE), provides day-to-day operational support for HR functions. Guides individuals to tools and resources, serves as a resident expert on Workday, initiates and approves transactions, and generates reports.

Provides HR support and manages the lifecycle of employee appointments including but not limited to regular, temporary, term positions, and student and non-employee populations.

General Human Resources Support (70%)

  • Initiates transactions and HR business processes in Workday and HR Connection (Service Now)
  • Review and approve Workday transactions.
  • Assists with troubleshooting transaction issues and connects to other teams or Centers of Excellence as appropriate.
  • Supports unit onboarding and offboarding initiatives (i.e., new hire checklists, stay interviews, exit interviews, etc.)
  • Coordinates the student employee lifecycle.
  • Facilitate issues related to timekeeping, pay, escalate as needed.
  • Runs and prepares Workday reports on unit-specific HR needs.
  • Acts as a resource to managers and employees on a wide variety of HR topics, guides individuals to tools and resources, and assists with performance issues.

Additional HR Support (30%)

  • Ensures compliance with HR document maintenance/records retention.
  • Maintains employment files in OnBase.
  • Updates HR communications and sends via unit-specific channels.
  • Administrative HR support (i.e., interview scheduling, equipment ordering, supply ordering)
  • Provides day-to-day operational support for HR functions and the overall delivery of HR services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience.

Desired Education/Experience:

2-4 years of relevant experience. Experience in a higher education setting. Experience working with HR systems such as Workday. Ability to exemplify the Ohio State Shared Values. High attention to detail.
