Participating as a member of the University Advancement's senior leadership team, the University Advancement HR Business Partner oversees and leads the University Advancement Human Resources department, serving as the principal resource for all human resources matters. Reporting into Campus HR with a dotted line reporting into the COO of University Advancement, the HRBP works closely with leaders within University Advancement to develop and implement comprehensive people strategies that enable the organization to attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent. The HRBP is client-centric and thoroughly understands both the UAAR's strategic objectives and day-to-day operations, and builds trusting relationships with its leaders and staff. The HRBP builds strong partnerships, collaborates, and coordinates with Campus HR to ensure delivery of high quality, value-added services that align with organization's goals. The position advises leadership on strategic decision-making, including organizational effectiveness, talent and performance management, leadership development and change management. The HRBP uses advanced professional human resources concepts to provide guidance to all levels within the organization, utilizing associated human resources expertise in areas of employment laws, university policies, and regulatory compliance within scope of the position. The HRBP may also serve in a lead to supervisory capacity, providing guidance to other human resource and administrative professionals and manage the coordination of a variety of campus initiatives.
Total Compensation:

$120,000 - $130,000 is the expected range within the full salary range of $90,500 - $169,700 (Annual Salary)
Required:

  • 6 - 8 years of experience as an HR Generalist with 3 - 5 years of HR supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a consultative capacity with leaders and managers concerning employment law and organizational policy in an effort to minimize risk.
  • Experience developing and implementing training programs preferred.
  • Experience managing compliance efforts in a progressive organization.
  • Experience in assessing and analyzing staff development and training gaps for the purpose of creating and implementing staff development/training workshops that meet the needs of an organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, HR Management preferred with 6 to 8 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training, and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and / or affecting human resources.
  • In-depth knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
  • Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to present complex information.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated active listening and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to provide customer service to a diverse and high-level staff in a diplomatic and confidential manner.
  • Ability to be flexible in working independently as well as collaboratively with Human Resources, University Advancement, Centers of Excellence (COE), faculty and staff to achieve defined goals.
  • Knowledge of Organizational Development and Effectiveness programs / techniques including: succession planning and organizational change management (OCM).
  • Ability to develop strategic, innovative, and mutually beneficial recommendations and solutions that align strategic business objectives with employment strategies. Analytical skills to gather & evaluate data, identify alternatives, and make recommendations.

Preferred:
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), HRCI certification, or related certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of UCI Systems, such as applicant tracking systems (ATS), FastClass, TRS, UC Path and Salesforce or similar CRM.
  • Knowledge of development, fund-raising and gift administration.
