HR Business Partner

Job Summary:

The HR Business Partner works with faculty and staff to increase employee engagement and effectively resolve workplace concerns.   With over 1200 full-time staff, Administrative Operations supports the infrastructure of the University.  The HR Business Partner Administrative Operations provides strategy, advice and guidance to staff, supervisors, managers and leaders.  The role actively partners to address a variety of workplace issues and opportunities, diagnoses complex human resource or organizational development needs and serves as a liaison between the department and the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources.  This role will act as a catalyst for change, supporting the development and implementation of strategies, which enable the institution to thrive during periods of change.  Drives leadership and sponsorship for engagement activities and assessments, works with leadership to define, develop and maintain a culture that inspires and fosters staff engagement.  Ensures that alignment and delivery of HR strategic and service delivery needs are met across multiple HR functions.  Collaborates with Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, and Leadership and Organizational Development to diagnose needs and propose solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing guidance and advice to managers, supervisors and employees of the assigned colleges, or units.  Create new approaches to serving the needs of the department.  Partner with the unit to develop and implement people management practices and act as a change ambassador.  Partner with stakeholders to ensure that best practices are being adopted.  Provide general management and employee coaching.
  • Collaborate with Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and Leadership, Organizational Development to diagnose needs and propose solutions
  • Participate or lead HR process improvement projects and support HR initiative implementations

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • Two or more years of HR generalist or business partner experience
  • Demonstrated success advising, and providing consultative support to people across multiple levels
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated project management and change management skills
  • Analytical and data management skills with the ability to translate data into action planning
  • Demonstrated successful experience in influencing people
  • Skill in drawing actionable insights from raw information and data

What Is Helpful:
  • SPHR or PHR certification
