SUMMARY
As the HR
Generalist/Business Partner (HRG/BP) for a select client group, this person will need to
think creatively and be comfortable handling employee and manager questions
without immediate support from HR leaders. You will be an active member of the
HR team and will work closely with the Assistant Director and Director to
develop and mentor 600+ employees. The HR professional will manage employee relations, performance management, recruitment, benefits, and implement
HR policies/procedures/programs for the select client group.
To be
successful in this HR role, you need to be hard-working, have an inquisitive
mind, use critical and creative thinking, and have a good sense of humor. There
are no direct reports for this position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Advise leaders and employees regarding the ESU Warrior Code, benefits, recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and CBA interpretation to ensure guidelines and procedures are handled consistently and timely.- Drive retention efforts with leadership and partner with other ESU HRBPs to collaborate on best practices.
- Proactively diagnose organization issues and collaborate with the Director/Assistant Director in identifying strategic solutions and implement action plans.
- Facilitate and schedule new hire orientations and exit interviews, collecting feedback to promote insight and growth for ESU.
- Oversee, implement, and assess (as needed) HR procedures, programs, accommodations, and HR reporting while ensuring compliance with Federal, State and Local laws.
- Manage employee relations, conduct internal investigations and audits as necessary, and support supervisors with corrective action process ensuring a consistent approach and practices.
- Assist in EEOC responses, employee surveys, and lead compliance efforts.
- Partner with supervisors to guide and oversee performance management processes for all staff types.
- Complete additional HR related administrative tasks as needed such as HR metrics, workers compensation claims, Safety and OSHA compliance, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the ability to complete a bachelor’s degree within 1 year of appointment.- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish trust and partner with a wide range of stakeholders through outstanding oral/written communication skills.
- 2+ years human resources experience (prefer business partner level) in a high-volume environment like a distribution center or higher education institution.
- Maintain confidentiality of information and work independently under pressure and in situations of ambiguity.
- Experience with developing and coaching hourly employees and first-level supervisors to help build the future leadership bench.
- A proven track record of professional and leadership growth; open to coaching
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Schedule: Typically, 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday and as business needs demand.
