Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Finance and Human Resources Director, manages human resources and business activities for the Honors College. As Human Resources Coordinator, manages all aspects of staff searches: posts positions, advertises jobs, organizes and runs the interview process, and serves as the main contact for search committees and candidates. Coordinates FTE staff hire and offer processes. Manages the hiring and on-boarding adjunct, temporary, dual, and summer faculty as well as student hires and Faculty Fellows. As Business Coordinator, oversees and submits check requests, reimbursements, and invoices. Supports other human resource and business activities of the dean’s office as needed, adhering to state laws and policies and following university policies, procedures and guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer strong collaborative and personal communication skills. Experience in a high education environment preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Thorough knowledge of general accounting practices and principals. Knowledge of state and university financial and human resource processes, laws, rules and regulations. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and related software programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and priorities. Ability to work independently and with confidentiality.

Business Coordinator:
For assigned areas, initiates reimbursements for staff, faculty, and students, process check requests, submit invoice payments, reimburse staff and students and/or travel authorizations/reimbursements. Provides excellent customer service for faculty, vendors, and on campus partners. Provides other support in the dean’s office as needed and as deadlines dictate. Adheres to state laws and policies and following university policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Business Coordinator:
Under the guidance of the Finance and HR Director, oversees the budget for a subset of college accounts, and monitors transactions through People Soft and Finance Intranet. Provides monthly budget reports for all assigned areas and communicates allowable expenses with faculty, staff, and students. Oversees Publix card and processes all Publix invoices.

Adhering to state laws and policies and following university policies, procedures and guidelines, hires student workers for a subset of college accounts. Oversees and manages I-9 process. Ensures that students are hired using the correct accounting codes and hourly rates.

Human Resources Coordinator, staff and faculty hires:
Manages the human resource activities of the dean’s office by using USC job hiring systems to hire Adjunct faculty each semester. Assists by placing ads on the USC job site, managing offer and acceptance letters, and on-boarding activities for Adjuncts and TFACs. Manages Dual hires, summer teaching hires, and Faculty Fellows actions. Supports other human resource activities of the dean’s office as needed, adhering to state laws and policies and following university policies, procedures and guidelines.

Human Resources Coordinator, staff searches:
Manages and performs all aspects of staff searches, which is a very visible duty in the College. Adds the positions to UofSC’s job board and places external ads when needed. Communicates postings to SCHC leadership and staff. Manages the itineraries and scheduling processes, secure parking, flight reservations, and lodging if required, and communicates schedules to dean, search committees, and staff for candidate interviews. Sends calendar invites, shares candidate materials and itineraries, and serves as facilitator for search committee meetings for each search. Serves as the contact for candidates and as escort for candidates during an interview and while on campus to ensure schedules are followed.
