Department Summary
The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. Position Overview
Director of Information Technology Services for the College of Health and Public Service (HPS). This position oversees all IT in the college including the computer labs, technology classrooms and faculty/staff computing needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and six years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
• Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
• Ability to supervise and train subordinates.
• Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
• Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Job Duties


o
Technical oversight of HPS computer labs, 210/220 classlabs, faculty/staff technical support, accounts, servers.
o
Manage the hiring, scheduling, performance, and professional development of all HPS IT Services full- and part-time staff.
o
Plan long-term and short-term goals and objectives for HPS IT Services. Devise strategies for achievement; monitor results.
o
Oversee IT security of HPS including network, user accounts, files.
o
Monitor and analyze technology issues and needs of HPS faculty, staff, and students. Use assessments provided by staff and faculty to project future needs of all users. Prioritize projects and resources.
o
Serve as voting member of university technology committees. Serve on technical task forces and committees as requested.
