Under the Facilities Manager's direction, the Housekeeper is primarily responsible for cleaning the camp's bathroom facilities. The Housekeeper will also be responsible for monitoring cleaning supply inventory and notifying the Facilities Manager when any supply is running low, or any equipment is damaged or requires replacement.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age to comply with NYS Department of Labor regulations.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of related work experience.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Administrative Responsibilities:

Management – 10%

  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the camp safety plan submitted to the Suffolk County Department of Health.

Coordination/Operation – 85%

  • Maintain effective communications with other camp staff.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; inform Facilities Manager when supplies are low.
  • Assist Facilities Manager in preventing health hazards and unsafe conditions through daily inspection of bathroom facilities.
  • Use, store and dispose of hazardous materials and chemicals using recommended procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize camp bathroom facilities in designated locations: Forest Bathhouse, Sandcastles, Dunes Cabins, Camp Office, Health Center, and Kitchen Area.
  • Sweep and mop floors in designated areas.
  • Clean mirrors and windows in designated areas.
  • Replenish toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap.
  • Remove and dispose of all trash.
  • Report maintenance needs to Facilities Manager.
  • Report vandalism, theft, trespass, or misuse of equipment and facilities by campers or staff to Facilities Manager or Camp Director.

Professional Improvement – 5%

  • In cooperation with Supervisor and Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and address changes and Association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions

  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement, and standard.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
