Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The position is responsible for completion of daily housekeeping/custodial duties in the Campus Recreation Center, Golf Course Clubhouse, Cambridge Community Center, and/or Ritchie Coliseum. Within an assigned area or building(s), the position will perform the full range of housekeeping tasks to include but not limited to trash removal, floor care, restroom/locker room cleaning, public area cleaning, and high dusting. The work shift will be 12:00 midnight to 8:30 AM and may include weekends.
The Housekeeper Lead position provides housekeeping services and assists in coordinating and administering a housekeeping team in an assigned area. The Housekeeper Lead maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, appearance, healthfulness, and safety possible to enable the purposes, safety, and comfort of the people and the places we serve. This mid-shift Housekeeper Lead position is a Monday through Friday role with operational hours from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am.
Conditions of Employment:
  • This position requires an onsite presence.
  • The position is an essential employee related to catastrophic, weather, or other emergencies and may be required to come to work, including overtime, when the University is closed to perform general maintenance/clean-up tasks as needed.
  • Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: One year housekeeping experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; to understand and follow directions; to lift and transport supplies and refuse; to wear and work in personal protective equipment; to provide guidance and training to others.

Other:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Physical Demands:
  • The incumbent may be required to work from ladders or scaffolding; to work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies and/or exert force up to 50 lbs.
  • The incumbent is to work in hazardous or irritating environments, and adverse weather or temperature conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment, and work on a ladder up to 8 feet in height.
  • Work will involve repetitive motion. The incumbent will be required to inspect work, which may involve bending, stooping, walking, and climbing.
