  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
  • The Security Services team has a crucial role in maintaining a positive, caregiving and welcoming environment at the Harborview campus in a manner that is consistent with UW Medicine Patients Are First Service Culture Guidelines
  • Hospital Security Officers provide assistance and effective problem resolution for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the multiple departments of Harborview, in both patient and non-patient areas
  • A dynamic team committed to making continuous improvements, and to protecting and caring for our people and property

  • PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • While modeling UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines and utilizing excellent customer service skills, the responsibilities of a Hospital Security Officer include oversight of the campus from a security perspective, response to emergencies, and enforcement of select policies
  • Oversight and inspection of assigned areas of Harborview campus (on foot or by vehicle)
  • Serve as a liaison and public relations representative with patients, visitors, and staff for matters related to security and public safety
  • Respond to calls for assistance and assist medical personnel; obtainment of information and preparation of written reports
  • Coordination with medical professionals, police officers, firefighters, and senior management
  • Incident investigation and dispatch duties
  • Providing of information and accessible customer service assistance to the public

  • REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver's license; no previous felony convictions; AND two years of full-time college in police science or allied field; OR two years of police or campus security experience
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except with there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
