Job Summary

Members of the Honors Student Leadership Team serve as Peer Mentors, Community Assistants, Equity Diversity and Inclusion Mentors, and Student Office Assistants.

Peer Mentors work in Honors Mindset Seminar and help students grasp the Honors Learning Framework, the expectations of the Honors Program, and encourage student engagement in learning experiences and social opportunities. Seminars are organized into sections for incoming freshmen, and for transfer and current students who are new to the Honors Program.

Community Assistants work with Honors Program staff to create unique and engaging programs and events, assist with service projects, attend University recruitment events on behalf of the Honors Program.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Mentors serve as a mentor to students who identify as coming from underrepresented backgrounds and identities.

Honors Student Office Assistants provide organizational support and clerical assistance to the Honors Program office, and serve as a knowledgeable representative of the Honors Program.


Pay Rate

$14.00/hour

Current Honors student; should be in good standing with the Honors Program.


Work Hours

Work hours will vary based on the position.

Honors Peer Mentors must be available to attend weekly team meetings on Fridays from 10:00 - 11:00am throughout the fall semester. There are no exceptions to this expectation. Applicants also need to be available to attend at least one section of seminar (times to be determined). Each section meets once per week for 75 minutes.

Honors Community Assistants must be available to attend weekly team meetings on Fridays from 9:00 - 10:30am throughout the fall semester. There are no exceptions to this expectation.

Honors EDI Mentors must be available to attend weekly team meetings on Fridays from 11:00am - 12:00pm throughout the fall semester. There are no exceptions to this expectation.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable, an employment history review, based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review. Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held.
