Job Description:

The Honors College at the University at Albany, SUNY, seeks three full-time lecturers to begin in Fall 2024. Ideal candidates will come from fields that permit diverse interdisciplinary teaching, including:

  • American/Cultural Studies
  • Archaeology
  • Art History
  • Cultural Geography
  • Data Science
  • Economic History
  • Environmental Science
  • Ethnic/Gender Studies
  • Human Biology
  • Media Studies
  • Neuroscience
  • Public Health
  • Science and Technology Studies

This is a three-year renewable 10-month appointment with opportunities for promotion to Lecturer 2 and Senior Lecturer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach a 3/3 course load plus one section of Honors Education: Theory, Research, & Practice each year.
  • Hold office hours and maintain regular communication with students.
  • Provide unbiased feedback and guidance to student work at regular intervals.
  • Serve as an academic mentor to Honors College students.
  • Perform course and program assessments.
  • Host one co-curricular event per semester.
  • Serve on Honors College committees.
  • Attend the annual Honors College retreat.
  • Implement principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.,J.D., MFA, DSW, or MLS from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 6/1/2024. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered. 
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
  • Applicants must develop an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Experience developing original course syllabi, assignments, and assessments.
  • Experience teaching discussion-based seminars. 
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse student body and a growing international student population.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with interdisciplinary and/or Honors teaching. 


Additional Information:

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Lecturer (10 Months); $60,000.
