Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of Student Health Services is to provide collaborative health care designed to empower students to develop lifelong skills that enhance their physical, psychological, and wellness status in an inclusive and affirming environment.

Position Summary
  • Review of medical records of students in insurance plans who receive services at Student Health Services and assigning codes that reflect patient diagnoses, procedures performed, equipment used, etc. to facilitate the billing and reimbursement process.
  • To ensure compliance with correct coding initiatives, fraud and abuse regulations, HIPAA and other regulations.
  • To organize and coordinate office operations, procedures, and resources that facilitate the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Serve as backup for billing, ensuring claims are processed in a timely manner.
  • To communicate in written and oral form and deliver appropriate information in a professional and respectful manner.
Minimum Qualifications

BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
-Certificate in Medical Coding or an Associate’s degree in Medical Coding
-Knowledge of HIPAA
Preferred Qualifications
-Health Information and Electronic Health Record experience
-College Health experience
