This position will provide Data Visualization, Data Engineering, and Data Science support for the school’s institutional, academic, and research needs. The analyst position serves as a key member of the Pratt ITteam,workingacross abreadthofprojects.

The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in serving the academic and research needs of the school through the use of existing and new technology and by developing the analytical framework, data architecture, applications and tools for data-driven decision making. This position willbuild,augment, andmaintaindata infrastructure,analytic tools, anddashboards. The successful candidate will bring a curiosity and interest in technology to stay abreast of rapidly advancing innovations in the data analytics space, particularly with respect to higher education.


  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in collecting, interpreting, documenting, andsummarizingdescriptive,analytical,andevaluativedata insupport of research and/or information gathering activities.
  • Gather information and data from various sources on problems that might help better understandthesituation.Analyze,study, andinterprettheinformationtofindpatterns and trends, validate data quality, and disregard irrelevant data.
  • Filter and"clean"data,andreview reports,logs, andperformanceindicatorstolocate and correct code problems.
  • Create adhocSQLreports onanas-needed basis.
  • Applyquantitativemethods, suchasstatistical andmachinelearning techniques ,to identify trends and valuable insights in historical data.
  • Coordinateandmonitor thedesign,development,modifica tionandimplementationof data collectionandreporting applications.Standardizemethods tocollect,analyze and manage data to improve data quality and the efficiency of data systems.
  • Design reports including tools, such as statistics, graphs, images, and lists that can help interested parties easily digest and interpret the data. Communicate the results to technicaland non-technicalstakeholders.Provide interpretationandrecommendations to decision makers and others affected by the results, noting trends, anomalies, and significant statistical variances and deviations of complex datasets.
  • Support“warm-handoff”of results,ensuring stakeholdersunderstandnuances in analyses and limitations of methodologies.

  • Provenexpertisewith dataanalysis inat leastonedevelopmentlanguage(Python,R, etc), and demonstrated fluency in SQL.
  • Understandingofdifferent dataformatting(JSON,CSV ,Parquet,XML) and datastorage models (Data Lake, Star Schema).
  • Excellentverbalandwritten skills.

B.S.inMathematics, ComputerScience,oran other quantitativefield.Master’s preferred.



Twoyearsofexperience inprofessionalengineeringordataanalytics.Foundationalengineering expertise and a passion for applied mathematics.

Education

Work requires advanced knowledge of both statistical analysis and interpretation, acquired through a BA in a related field.


Experience

Requires 4 years of relevant experience.
