High School English Instructor

Job Summary:

The English Instructor position will facilitate English sessions to a group of no more than 25 students. The English program will be administered during the PEOPLE summer residential program to help students express themselves creatively and learn important skills for high school and college-level English classes. The objective of English lessons are to help students succeed when they transition into first year English courses at UW Madison.


Responsibilities:
Teaches the quiz, tutorial, discussion or lab section(s) of a course or assists in the development of materials or programs under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member. May perform the same work as a Teaching Assistant, but is not a UW student.
  • 50% Facilitates classroom and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses including assessment of student performance
  • 25% Assists with the development of instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member
  • 25% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 1 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:

$45,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Additional Information:

This appointment will begin on June 3, 2024 and end on June 28, 2024. It is anticipated that the teaching hours for this position will take place during the morning hours.
