Job Summary

The Hemodialysis Tech II’s main responsibility is to ensure that all the hemodialysis treatment procedures are done according to the ZFGH Renal Center’s policies and procedures, and to give each hemodialysis patient safe and effective treatment and attention during the hemodialysis therapy; the Hemodialysis Tech II must communicate effectively with the Charge Nurse to deliver safe and adequate dialysis treatment to ESRD patients, and must initiate a hemodialysis therapy according to doctor’s order and report any unsafe practice to the Nurse Manager; will also perform other duties as assigned.

Department Description

The Nephrology Division spans multiple campuses with faculty and staff located at the UCSF Parnassus, Laurel Heights, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC), and Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG). The Nephrology Division consists of over 100 faculty, fellows, and staff whose work is grounded in deep commitment to, and respect for patients with kidney disease. The Division has approximately 40 faculty members, 15 admin and research staff, 16 fellows, and an annual budget of $11.1 million. For over 50 years, the Nephrology Division has employed and trained leaders in academic nephrology, superb clinical research scientists and basic scientists, and outstanding clinical nephrologists. Our faculty are leading experts in adult nephrology: including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and kidney transplantation. Our mission continues in this tradition: expanding the frontiers of basic and clinical investigation in nephrology, training the next generation of academic nephrology leaders and providing the highest level of patient care. Our division within and the UCSF School of Medicine overall provides a premier academic environment for faculty and trainees to provide outstanding clinical care and to be at forefront of kidney research worldwide. According to the U.S. News and World Report Rankings, UCSF Medical Center is constantly ranked in the top five nationally for “Nephrology.” UCSF School of Medicine and Department of Medicine are ranked #1 in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding. Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years Hemodialysis experience
  • Certified hemodialysis technician in the state of California
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Current BLS certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual
  • Certified clinical hemodialysis Technician (CCHT)

License/Certification

  • Certified hemodialysis technician in the state of California
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Current BLS certificate
