JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing, preparing, interpreting and monitoring of moderate–to–complex health process and outcomes data analyses, projections, data modeling, and reports used by system management in decision-making.  Serves as an expert resource to provide reporting and analysis guidance and support. Develops, implements and monitors reporting and analysis solutions from multiple databases to ensure efficient processing, up-to-date tools, and improved clinical and operational efficiencies.  Responsible for weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reports design and distribution.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Requires Bachelor's Degree preferably in informatics, information technology, business, data science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired and at least five years related work experience. 

Prefer Masters in Business (Administration, related) and or professional credentials of an RN or at least six years’ experience in, analysis, quality reporting, or decision support, with at least three years of experience with health care industry.


Salary Range

The salary range for this position $66,385/yr - $106,215/yr commensurate with experience.

Specific Job Related Duties
  • Develop and incorporate clinical service line and department clinical, quality, and operational reports, scorecards, and databases utilized to improve clinical and operational processes. Work collaboratively with other teams to provide analytical support to periodic quality reporting to external parties (CMS, Vizient, Leapfrog, and others), to include data validation, discrepancy analysis, and market referencing and benchmark establishment.
  • Coordinate and provide the necessary information for analysis studies on existing and new programs and serve as an expert on data mining and use information to develop insightful information for decision-making. Prepare and assist in the presentation of the strategic process and outcomes metrics.
  • Design, implement, and maintain solutions for the collection, management and utilization of clinical, claims, utilization, and financial data, provide technical evaluation of alternatives in the context of clinical analytics needs.
  • Assists in the development of reporting, analysis and visualization of health data through UTMB Discovery. Assist with development of ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) processes to acquire and load data from internal and external sources.
  • Independently perform programming and analysis work to automate/improve user determined data analyses and reports. 
  • Maintain the portfolio of model documents, templates, or other reusable Reporting, Business Intelligence and Analytics assets.
  • Responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of data from multiple data sources to create actionable reports and knowledge for peers and leadership. Abstract information for decision support purposes, including service-line reporting, and other duties as may be identified to assist decision-making.
  • Provide monthly submission of operational data for input into databank benchmark system and database, and create reports to compare hospitals to peer group hospitals against key metrics.
  • Extract, interpret, analyze, and prepare presentations of such information for senior management (e.g., service line, DRG, and physician profiling). 
  • Assists with data for the implementation of quality improvement processes and initiatives. Research other qualified outside benchmark data for comparison to internal benchmarks. Manage and design reports and benchmarking results in a clear and concise manner, as well as aggregating, processing and interpreting report data for decision making in an effective and efficient manner. Serve as a liaison with Tiger Institute, or software vendors, and partake in the assessment and implementation of new reporting tools.
  • Remains current with database and analytics technologies methods and standards, actively participates in professional forums, and ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art/industry relevant tools, techniques, and equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Provides technical support to other analysts, managers, clinicians and executives utilizing health data, monitor adherence to data standards, provide support to clients with broad range of technical expertise, and provides technical and end user documentation.

 


Preferred Education

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Access.

  • Self-starter who works well alone and in a team based, high energy, results driven environment.
  • Knowledge of HealthCare Informatics, Reporting, Analytics.
  • Familiarity with disease processes, care pathways, and medical terminology.
  • Experience with Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SQL Management, Business Objects, Cognos, or other data and visualization tools is desirable.
  • Skill in database and query design and development for scripts and reporting.
