Perioperative Services is seeking a full time Professional Staff Health Program Operations Specialist.   Perioperative Services is a complex department that entails OR, PACU, CSPD, Anesthesia, Scheduling and the Implant Room.  Each of these areas manages highly complex clinical, business and system applications to meet and exceed key initiatives that support the UW Medicine mission.  This position exercises independent judgment in applying the responsibilities called for and must work independently and within a team environment managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.  Responsibilities are to be carried out with a high level of technical expertise; collaborating with other teams, stakeholders and technical and business operations teams as required to successfully deliver within areas of responsibility.  This position may provide access to restricted or confidential information including: employee and patient information, medical center strategic plans and initiatives, financial information or other sensitive materials and information.  The incumbent should access and use the minimum necessary employee and organization information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.
This position will support Perioperative Services departments on both Montlake and NWH campuses and liaison with Surgery Clinics and other procedural areas.  Perioperative Services encompasses multiple departments which support patients and physicians going through the surgical experience.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

Provide staff and physician education (individual and group) on the OpTime clinical informatics system
Audits staff charting and clinic scheduling to determine educational needs and workflow issues.
Be immediately available to all clinical staff to answer questions and problem solve in the moment.
Maintain clinical competency to understand the needs of the Perioperative teams and determine educational and IT strategies.
Liaison with Physician partners and Surgical Clinics to determine process improvements and educational opportunities related to scheduling OR cases and PACU appointments.
Partner with RN 3’s, surgeons and clinic staff to create preference card upgrades and workflows.
Utilize CQI principles with IT services specific issues with processes working to improve deficiencies and issues with informatics systems used in each Perioperative Services department.
Work with Perioperative Leadership to create reports for utilization and CQI opportunities.
Run reports on a weekly basis to present to Executive and Perioperative Leadership.
Work with UWMC Billing, OR, PACU, Supply Chain and the Implant Room to help close out charts for charges.  Determine workflows with Intraop and PACU charting that need to be changed to allow billing process to occur.
Collaborate with CSPD and Supply Chain with supply changes and preference card updates.
Collaborate with IT Services on process changes and updates with the clinical informatics system and provide updates to Perioperative Services leadership, physicians and staff.  Determine needs at Montlake and Northwest Hospital that require separate workflows due to difference in surgical cases
Supervise Montlake PCC group including hiring, evaluations and corrective actions. 

Requires four to five years clinical experience in an inpatient and/or ambulatory health setting, using electronic health record systems.  Supervisory experience in a health care setting.  Experience with process improvement within a clinical system. Experience eliciting customer requirements and respond to customer needs. Customer and clinical staff consulting experience.  Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.  Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation, documentation and analytic writing skills. Demonstrated understanding of hospital, ambulatory and post-acute care operations, interdepartmental processes and interdisciplinary interactions and workflows in the healthcare setting. Strong project management, change management and team building skills.  Microsoft Office skills including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.   Bachelor’s in Nursing, Informatics or related health care field.  Experience in Epic OpTime.
