Health Information Associate I (Document Imaging Associate)

The Document Imaging Associate (Health Information Associate I) performs health information activities necessary to organize, maintain and use electronic and paper patient health records.

Performing specialized health information activities necessary to organize, maintain and use electronic and paper patient health records. Depending on area assigned, may specialize in one or more clerical functions, such as coding clerical support, transcription processing and interface. Coordination of record request, image scanning quality auditing, or serve as the satellite rep in off-campus locations. Analyze/research errors. Participate in quality reviews. Compile and trend data and generate reports. Queries multiple electronic records and tracking systems. Understands chart organization and content, CSMC and external requirements related to chart documentation and privacy. Also, performs as a backup for prepping and scanning records as needed, to meet department goals.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required. AA degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a health care setting or related field required.
  • Registered Health Info Tech or other related certification preferred.

Skills/experience we're seeking:

  • Attention to detail, problem solving and basic analytical skills. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic PC skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, required. Intermediate keyboarding skills.
  • Working knowledge of the content of the medical records preferred.
  • Solid understanding of documentation and privacy regulatory standards preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills. English language proficiency, written and spoken.
  • Strong data analysis and research skills for error corrections, preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital computer systems and EMRs, preferred. Knowledge of Epic system preferred.
