Description

The Health Informatics Analyst is responsible for leading the development of analytics solutions for UCLA Health and Health Sciences by gathering business needs, documenting requirements, identifying appropriate data sources, developing reports, visualizations and various analytics solutions, and delivering them to stakeholders. The incumbent is responsible for leading the analytics efforts related to a specific business domain in their area of expertise. The incumbent will provide analytical support for health management, including profiling, health economics, and business analysis. The incumbent must achieve in-depth knowledge of relevant software applications as well as understand policies, procedures, and constraints. This is a limited appointment role at 43% time for a duration of no more than 1 year.

* Must have retired from a UC and have received first retirement check. * Applies comprehensive knowledge of professional concepts and industry practices to lead the most complex projects of large size and scope that have critical impact throughout the medical center and / or systemwide * Collaborates with key business, technical, and clinical staff and management to strategize, plan, deploy, analyze, and evaluate the most complex clinical informatics systems and to design integrated architecture that will ensure the optimal user experience as well as the quality, functionality, and efficiency of systems. * Applies wide-ranging experience and expertise to lead collaborative project teams with business operations, clinical providers, and IT personnel to translate high-level operations workflow and patient experience objectives and policies into effective technical requirements that can be readily utilized and applied. * Leads project teams that include advanced business and clinical staff to improve clinical informatics results and to provide advice and sophisticated metrics and analytics to support management’s decision-making processes for systems modifications that are cost-effective, scalable, and meet present and future needs. * Plans, develops, and executes the most complex and sophisticated quality assurance testing, and designs and runs SQL (Structured Query Language) queries for enhanced medical data access for cross-functional use. Plans, develops, and performs the most complex documentation and reporting of design, development, and deployment processes, workflows, and outcomes. * Serves as an expert resource in data governance policies and analytics best practices, and, as required, applies broad expertise to perform high-level function in support, troubleshooting, and training on the most complex issues and problems. * Serve as a lead analytics developer and knowledge owner for specific business lines under the informaticist’s area of expertise * Mentor and lead other Clinical Informatics Specialists on business terminology, business requirements, and reporting best practices. Set the standards for optimal reporting development and deployment for specific business lines. * Design, develop, validate and perform thorough functional testing of reports, data extracts, visualizations and dashboards utilizing BI and analytics tools and data sources such as, including but not limited to: On-premise and Cloud Data Sources, Oracle Server, SQL Server, Caboodle, Clarity, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Registry Framework and Data Marts, SlicerDicer, Advanced Excel Techniques, Databricks and other Analytics Tools. * Clearly document business terms and definitions, measures and metrics in unified data governance platform, and update documentation when business needs or requirements change * Review upgrade documentation related to analytics tools and content, determine the best implementation approach. Evaluate, anticipate and communicate risks to existing analytics products and processes, and recommend ways to mitigate those risks. * Review, translate and transform business requirements into the design of semantic data models through the use of tools such as, but not limited to, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, Azure Analysis Services and SAP Universe Designer * Monitor performance of analytics outputs and take corrective action to optimize or improve the performance when necessary, utilizing common DataOps Practices as applicable. * Create technical documentation pertaining to the design and development of semantic data models
