Health and Human Sciences Extension promotes optimal well-being of individuals, families and communities, with special recognition for the needs of vulnerable populations. HES Extension offers a variety of educational programs throughout the state, including the Family Nutrition Education Program for individuals and families. 

This position will provide support to the Health & Human Sciences Extension Strategic Communications group.   This position will develop social media content that coordinates with educational programs and social marketing initiatives.   This position will ensure that all content developed is in coordination with the university brand standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

30%        Utilize social as well as traditional media to deliver messaging and engage learners. Act as community manager for social channels: engage with the online community, respond to comments and messages and foster positive interactions to build brand loyalty. 

20%        Assist in development and maintain a shared social media editorial calendar to ensure a steady flow of fresh and relevant content; and schedule post for optimal engagement and reach. 

20%        Collaborate with marketing team to brainstorm and generate ideas for innovative and engaging content that resonates with our target audience. 

20%        Create written content for marketing assets for multiple purposes, including organic and sponsored social media post, search advertisements, website, blog articles, media communications, press releases, case studies, scripts for videos, email campaigns, newsletters, brochures, and other communications and promotional materials.  Ensure all media materials are coordinated and provide consistent messages as the curriculum across educational reinforcements, message, and social marketing. 

10%        Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans.  Other duties and responsibilities will be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Communications and Marketing.
