Position Details

General Statement	Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. Instructors are needed to teach classes depending upon need and available funding. Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in pool for two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to re-submit materials for continued consideration. The department or program search committees or hiring authority will review and evaluate the submitted application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the non-tenure track faculty hiring pool. Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration, a couple weeks, a semester or an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department/program. Salary is dependent on number of courses taught and duration. We seek individuals who work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals, possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Montana State University.
Duties and Responsibilities	We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed. Responsibilities may include: Teaching on-campus or online courses Advising, evaluating and assisting students and/or Curriculum and/or course development
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills	Master’s degree or terminal degree in appropriate field with an academic background commensurate with teaching one or more of the specialty areas listed above.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills	Academic/professional experience. Demonstrated experience teaching interdisciplinary courses Demonstrated knowledge of college student development Promote the advancement of diversity. OR Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
The Successful Candidate Will	Possess effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. The Department	The department of Health and Human Development at Montana State University is located in the College of Education, Health and Human Development (EHHD). The departmental mission is to enrich human well-being through teaching, research, and outreach. The first-time pass rate for community health majors on the Certified Health Education Specialist Exam (CHES) is 100% and the first time pass rate on the exam for Registered Dieticians is 86%. National averages for these examination pass rates are significantly lower than those at MSU. Ski researchers at Montana State recently won awards at national and international competitions. The Child Development Center, part of the Early Childhood program, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Other departmental accreditations include ASCEND for Food and Nutrition and CACREP for Counseling. Human Development Clinic/Clinical Supervision.
The College	The College of Education, Health and Human Development (EHHD), the third largest college at Montana State University , serves over 2000 students and employs over 50 full time tenure track faculty. EHHD consists of two academic units: Education and Health and Human Development . The College of Education, Health and Human Development is home to a wide variety of programs that fulfill Montana’s land grant mission of providing services to the people of Montana and beyond. We train teachers for elementary and secondary classrooms. We support grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. We help soldiers and other professionals become teachers. We partner with leaders on Native American reservations to develop ways to lead healthy lifestyles and improve education for children and adults. We educate families on how to make healthy nutrition and physical activities choices.
