Position Highlights The incumbent will work under the direction of the Family, Consumer & Health Sciences Agent to manage activities and functions of the Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC) program to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board (First Things First) including priorities, time limitations, and methodology. This position provides health consultations to childcare centers and homes in the Pinal Regions (greater Pinal County); and works in coordination with the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board (First Things First), the Arizona Board of Regents, and the University of Arizona on behalf of the Gila County Cooperative Extension. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance and technical assistance to childcare providers on a wide range of health and safety topics. This position will provide training and appropriate resources to assist the childcare provider in successful inclusion of children with special health and/or behavior needs and will work as part of a team to develop educational materials which are appropriate for their audience.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, develops, and/or facilitates local trainings, workshops, meetings, or conferences for early care and education staff and stakeholders; and develops, compiles, and distributes communications and promotional literature. This includes providing assessments for providers.
  • Document activities in on-line data management system and assist with preparation of reports and program records for management or outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborate with local community partners on local health and safety concerns by attending meeting and events in the community; provide community presentations; and serve as a community resource to other local stakeholders serving early care and education programs.
  • Participate in or attend Child Care Health Consultation and/or Quality First continuing education events or statewide meetings;  participate in collaboration meetings, First Things First regional council meetings if requested by the regional council, and other events as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
  • Knowledge of adult education practices (informal).
  • Knowledge of health topics and/or early care settings.
  • Knowledge of Pinal County and surrounding areas.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Must be able to work some weekends and weeknights as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license at time of start date, as local travel will be required. May be required to travel statewide for trainings and statewide meetings.
  • Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing expert guidance and technical assistance to childcare providers on a wide range of health and safety topics.
  • Proven experience in collecting, synthesizing, and disseminating research based information to appropriate audience. Experience in childcare settings.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting systems.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree in health related field.
  • Be a pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner, pediatric or community health nurse, or a health professional with expertise in mental health, nutrition, health educations, oral health, and /or emergency management.
