Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The following are the functions essential to performing this job:

  • Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes to join the golf program.
  • Training: Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for student-athletes to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule practices, competitions, and travel arrangements for the golf team.
  • Competition: Prepare student-athletes for competitive play and coach them during matches and tournaments.
  • Administration: Manage budgetary allocations for the golf program, handle administrative tasks, and maintain accurate records.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations and university policies.
  • Public Relations: Serve as a representative of the university's golf program, fostering positive relationships with alumni, donors, and the community.
  • Student-Athlete Development: Support the academic and personal development of student-athletes, promoting their success on and off the golf course.

  • Golf Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in golf, including coaching techniques and strategies.
  • Recruitment Skills: Ability to identify and recruit talented student-athletes to the university's golf program.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide and motivate student-athletes.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage schedules, travel arrangements, and administrative tasks.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, staff, alumni, donors, and the community.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of NCAA regulations and university policies related to athletics.

  • Qualification Standards

    1. Education: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required; previous coaching experience preferred.
