Job Summary/Basic Function |
JOB SUMMARY: The Head Coach is responsible for development, coaching and administration of all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division II athletic program. The Head Coach will be responsible for management of department wide programs including but not limited to academic support, game management, serving as a facilities coordinator, recruitment and retention, fundraising, administering budget, procurement of equipment, travel, NCAA compliance, and hire and evaluate Assistant Women’s Basketball Coaches and volunteer coaches. Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of student-athlete well-being and the student athlete experience. Head coach is responsible for positively representing the University at Southern Intercollegiate Conference events, local media outlets, and coaches shows. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and administer a successful sports program
- Recruiting and developing student-athletes who will successfully represent the institution academically and athletically
- Scheduling and organizing events in accordance with applicable Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA regulations
- Attending and coaching all games and practices
- Administering sports program budget in line with the guidelines provided by the Athletics Department and the Office of Chief Financial Officer
- Coordinating procurement of uniforms and equipment
- Making team travel arrangements
- Keeping abreast and ensuring compliance with the Southern Collegiate Intercollegiate Conference and NCAA regulations while maintaining highest ethical standards of conduct
- Supervising assistant coaches and other program personnel
- Monitor and foster student-athletes’ well-being and academic success
- Fundraising and community service efforts
- Support operations of the Marauder Athletics Department
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year collegiate institution
- 3 years of coaching experience at intercollegiate level with successful recruiting and competitive record
- Demonstrated commitment to rules/policy compliance and a commitment to student-athlete success both academically and athletically and overall student-athlete well being.
- Commitment to positive student-athlete experience for the entire team
- Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others
- Compliant with necessary policies appropriate to Marauder Athletics, including: Sports Medicine protocols, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, NCAA compliance manual, and the student-athlete handbook. Thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures and the ability to effectively enact them is expected for continuing employment
- Attentive to details to effectively act on policies necessary and appropriate for managing NCAA and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference related compliance
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position
- Must meet training and background check qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to comply with University driving policy

Preferred Qualifications |
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree
- Previous NCAA DI or DII experience
- Experience working with women’s basketball
- 5+ years of successful coaching and recruiting experience
- Experience taking teams to postseason championships
- Experience with program administration at the intercollegiate NCAA level
