PURPOSE

The Development Assistant is responsible for providing overall support for HRI fundraising activities and efforts.  In concert with the Office of Institutional Advancement, the Development Assistant updates constituent data in Raiser’s Edge, serves as a liaison to Harte Research Institute friends, donors and donor prospects, assists with fund raising activities and provides management reporting. This is a full-time position reporting to the Harte Research Institute Director of Development.

 

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Administrative        

Percent Effort: 100%

  • In concert with the Office of Institutional Advancement, responsible for ensuring HRI prospect records are updated in Raiser’s Edge as needed.

  • Update and maintain all HRI fundraising activity in Raiser’s Edge, including input of development activities, actions, proposals, opportunities, etc.

  • Interface consistently with Institutional Advancement to maintain and stay current on processes and procedures around data management, gift processing and gift administration.

  • Establish and prepare development management reports.

  • Review weekly gift report for accuracy and adjust Raiser’s Edge ‘opportunities’ accordingly.

  • Run established reports built in Raiser’s Edge by Advancement Services.

  • Request donor profiles and prepare giving history reports.

  • Work with HRI MarCom team to determine data needs for mailings and events, submit the IA Data Request Form to provide constituent data for mailings and events, and review returned data.

  • Assist in developing effective ways to collect constituent contact information and send to Advancement Services for input into Raiser’s Edge.

  • Interface with donors regarding giving and commitments.

  • Oversee logistics of development events, including reserving space, services, catering, etc.

  • Assist with events including RSVPs, registration, check-in, attendance follow-up and work with Institutional Advancement on the utilization of available tools and resources.

  • Provide overall administrative support and make travel arrangements for development staff.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)

  • Strong written and communication skills along with having strong organizational, analytical and planning skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to interface with all levels of an organization and individuals, both internally and externally.

  • May require travel to/from events.

  • Strong initiative and self-motivation.
