Requirements
Georgetown University Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for designing and leading members through safe and effective workouts. They are personable, self-motivated, and have a passion for helping individuals achieve their fitness goals; and possess knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, group class structure, proper form, and cueing.
Supporting Georgetown University’s cura personalis value (“care for the whole person”), the Group Fitness Instructor offers individualized attention to participants, providing a unique exercise opportunity.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Fitness and Wellness, the Group Fitness Instructor – in temporary role - interacts with their peers in addition to Georgetown University faculty and staff, allowing them to become a positive influence in the community, encouraging individuals to partake in a holistic, healthy lifestyle.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Engaging and self-motivated with a passion for helping individuals achieve their fitness goals
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, group class structure, proper form, and cueing
- Successful completion of Group Fitness/Exercise Instructor course and a national certification from a reputable certifying organization - i.e., ACE, AFAA, Zumba, Mad Dogg)
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification
