Department Summary
The Recreational Sports Department at UNT strives to provide the kind of recreational experiences that not only support the wellness of the UNT community but inspire it. The activities are provided through intramural sports, informal recreation, group exercise, sport clubs, esports, fitness, faculty/staff fitness, special events, outdoor pursuits and aquatics.
Position Summary
Hiring for select formats: Cycle, Dance, and Pilates Mat. This position is semester long with the potential for extension based on need.
  • Provide safety and supervision to class participants
  • Provide fitness equipment and safety instruction as needed to class participants
  • Must attend all staff meetings, trainings, and workshops
  • Stay after and arrive to class at least 15 minutes early to assist participants as needed
  • Handle all injuries, accidents, and emergency situations as needed
  • Answer questions regarding the policies and procedures
  • Attend continuing education to keep certifications current and keep up with trends
  • Use appropriate technology to to check in all participants for each class
  • Enforce fitness policies and procedures to provide a safe environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Group Exercise Certification from AFAA, ACE, or other specialty certification upon approval from assistant director or the ability to obtain within the first six months of hire
  • Current CPR/FA certification or ability to attain within one month
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of teaching group exercise classes
Required License / Registration / Certification

Varied based on formats taught, availability and the semester
