Job Summary: The Group Exercise Instructor teaches group exercise in a variety of styles.


Additional Department Summary: Plans and leads fitness classes in a variety of levels and styles, including cardio, mind-body, and strength-based group exercise classes. Conducts fitness classes in a fun, safe, and effective manner that meet University Recreation guidelines at the direction of the Fitness Service Coordinator. Provides an encouraging and motivating environment while helping participants to achieve their fitness goals.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Group exercise instructor or specialist certification from a nationally recognized certifying organization or NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredited fitness certification; OR completion of the Group Exercise Instructor Preparation Course at the University of Alabama Student Recreation Center. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR certification within six (6) weeks of employment.
