ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Facilities Services is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable environment for students, faculty, staff and guests.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Groundskeepers are responsible for maintaining the grounds and landscaping of assigned areas on a USF campus. This includes keeping USF grounds areas in clean and orderly condition, free of trash and debris. Groundskeepers are responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of grounds areas as well as mowing lawns, trimming and pruning trees and bushes, and detailing landscape elements and flowerbeds.  Shift hours: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM (May require occasional non-shift days/hours and holidays). 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be proficient in reading, writing and communicating in English. Must have the ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. Requires a valid Florida driver's license. Requires a Limited Lawn & Ornamental Certificate, or the ability to obtain the certificate as soon as reasonably possible after hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mows, edges and maintains USFSP lawn and grounds areas.
Removes weeds, refuse and other debris from flowerbeds and mulched areas. Plants flowers, shrubs, etc. in flowerbeds & appropriate areas.
Trims, prunes and stakes trees, shrubs, vines & plants.
Maintains Sembler fountain at Harborwalk to include water chemical balancing/treatment, cleaning of fountain to eliminate dirt, algae, etc.
Picks up debris and trash from campus grounds. Blows leaves and debris from walkways and stairs.
Performs minor adjustments and repairs to grounds keeping equipment and machinery. Notifies his/her Supervisor of landscaping tools or supplies that need to be ordered. Refills 30 gallon gas caddies and refuels grounds keeping equipment.
Performs other landscaping and grounds maintenance duties as assigned by a Supervisor. Responsible for possessing an operational two-way radio during the entire work shift. Monitor all Grounds communications and respond as required to communications addressed to them.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires the completion of the 9th grade. No specific experience required. A valid Florida driver's license may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.
PREFERRED:
High school diploma or GED. One or more years of groundskeeping experience. Experience operating commercial grade lawn mowers. Experience with maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, fountains and groundskeeping equipment.
